Anambra State Commissioner For Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, in her efforts to eradicate child labour in the state, has stumbled on something very interesting and disheartening. 

The Honorable Commissioner, during the exercise to rescue under age children being use to seek for alms in the state, has discovered that most of the children being used as beggars in different locations of major cities in Anambra State, are not biologically children of the women who claim to be blind. These women, who have full use of their sights, but pretend to be blind in other to attract sympathy from the general public, rent these children from a syndicate that hires them away for a fee. 

It will interest you to know that, the infermus "Nyere mummy m aka, mummy m adi afu uzo,," Child beggars, are mostly trafficked children. 

The team, led by the Honorable Commissioner has so far rescued over 20 children, while investigation into the activities of the syndicate behind these nefarious acts is continuing.
